Trisomy
This is a topic that is very scary for me. When I was about 5 months along with my son the doctor told us that there was a strong possibiliy that he had Trisomy 18. Our hearts about stopped and the flood of tears and emotion would not end until we had the test results back that we wanted. The diagnosis for Trisomy 18 was death inutero or shortly after birth. Those couple of weeks of not knowing were the worst! We stopped buying clothes, nursery items, blankets and so on. We were beginning to wonder where, how and when we would have to give our little boy back to the Lord. After a amnio, blood work and a couple of weeks later we learned that the original test was a false positive and that our baby boy was healthy.
That was one of the best days of my life; besides the birth of all 3 of our children. Even though he was born with numerous health issues we realize every day that things could and can be so much worse. Some parents aren’t as blessed with good news though.
